Reminder, the scheduled City Commission study session for Tuesday night has been canceled. In its place, I’m hosting the second Micro City Sessions at The Little Fleet. Come talk all-things TC over a beverage with a commissioner (or two) and fellow citizens. 7-PM in the beer garden.
Perhaps one of the topics that will come up is parkland. Did you know the City has 34 parks? Below is a map of all of them excluding the Brown Bridge Quiet Area that is 10 miles south of town. The City Commission recently voted to place on the ballot a proposal to fund park improvements, so it’d be helpful for us all to be familiar with our assets.
Also, I need to give a big-bark in support of an effort to raise $5500 for Wags West, our off-leash socializing dog park (labeled as such in the map below). Since its opening two-years ago, its popularity proved hard on the grass and during the hot summers canine-hydration has been a struggle. A band of volunteers are raising money on behalf of the City for ground cover (stone) and water stations.
The many ways to give this week are:
- Download a donation form and send in a check (business sponsorships available).
- Buy raffle tickets at the D.O.G. Bakery on West Front St.
- Attend the D.O.G. Bakery’s 10 year anniversary this Saturday afternoon.
- Saturday night again come to The Little Fleet for a bow-wow good time in the beer garden starting at 4pm.
More information can be found at the Traverse City Off-leash Dog Park Facebook page or feel free to send me a message with any questions.
